Killer Kyle, Shoot-out King!

April 13, 2017. Wags Vs. Green Machine
Trouble for Wags started before the game when 6 of the 12 previously committed players dropped out. That meant 5 guys on the ice with one guy resting on the bench. Their opponents had 6 guys resting on the bench. To make matters worse, Alec Paloumpis did not have his goalie skates, so he had to make some quick adjustments. Ten seconds into the game, the Green Machine scored to take a quick lead. That lead lasted less than 2 minutes because Wags got a power play and cashed it in with a goal by Jason "Bara" Kuta.  It only took 4 seconds for Kyle "Killer" Sandowski and Matt "Swatter"  Swastek  to set up the Power Play goal. One minute later, Tommy Z-MAN Zagorski  sailed a pass over to Jay "Roadrunner" Demaria.  Jay fooled the huge Green Machine goalie with a flutter blast that eluded his big blocker.

Happy Heroes! Kyle scored the winner in a shoot-out and Alec stopped all 7 shoot-out attempts.

The Green Machine tied the score at 2-2 midway through the first period.  Scoring slowed down in the second period with each team scoring once. Killer scored an unassisted goal with 5:44 left in the second period.  The period amazingly ended in a 3-3 tie. The 6 Wags players were gassed and the 11 Green Machine players were well rested as they waited for Wags to collapse. Thirty seconds into the 3rd period, the Green Machine scored and it looked like it was over, but half way through the final stanza, Killer Kyle set up Jason "Bara" Kuta for the tying goal that shocked the Green Machine into high gear, but every shot was saved by Alec Paloumpis.  At one point, he made 3 great saves, so one of their bench jockey yelled Go blocker, so the next shot was saved by his blocker.  The game stayed tied until the GM scored with 2:19 left in the game.  All of the fans thought Wags was toast, but somehow Roadrunner tied it with 11 seconds left That sent the game to a shoot out. Killer went first and was blocked by the big pads of the GM Goalie.  Alec stoned their ace, Jay went next and he was stoned, but Alec stopped their 2nd shooter.  All 6 wags shooters were stopped, but Alec answered their 6 shooters. Finally, Killer Kyle beat the beast with his second chance when he went top shelf on the monster that goal was followed by Alec's Game Winning Save.

Mike Miller Scores 2 Goals !

April 18, 2017. Wags Vs. Crooked Stix
Bara-Kuta Bash Brothers
Wags out played the Crooked Stix in the first period, but had a hard time finding the net.  They had lots of fore-checking.  Finally Mike Miller scored to give us a 1-0 lead, but Dan Lopatka got sent to the sin bin for interfering with a guy that hit him in the head.  The Crooked Stix took advantage of that bad call and tied the game with a power play goal. The score was tied at 1-1 after 2 periods.  I went to check on my Grandson Jeff's team in the American Rink and they were up 4-3 with 2 goals by Jeff.  While I was gone, Jay scored an un

assisted goal early in the 3rd  (The refs were not giving many assists) they listed 4 of the 6 goals as unassisted. Mike Miller added the GWG with 7:08 left.  Stix scored a minute later, but Killer Kyle put the game away with a break away goal in the final minute.  The Kuta's got into a fight with 9:42 left in the 2nd period and they both got tossed. They came up and sat with their grandpa and me after a shower. We had fun knowing that the Cubs came back from 5 down to win a thriller.

Jeff's team (Ice Age) lost to a loaded Rangers team last night.  They were tied 6-6 late, but gave up 2 goals in 3 seconds and went on to get eliminated 10-6.
