Big Playoff Win for Wags

December 16, 2014, Rangers Vs. Wags
Wags started out dominating the Rangers for most of the first shift, but one of Rangers picked off a pass and raced in all alone on Waghorn and scored on a break away just 57 seconds into the game.  That lead lasted until Calcagno got sent to the sin bin for holding Speed Racer too tight with 9:58 left in the period. Torry "Snuffy" Snick took a pass from Jay "Road Runner " DeMaria and fired it at the net where Jeff "Speed Racer" Lopatka redirected it past the goalie with a power play goal that took just 58 seconds!  Do you believe in numerology?  57 seconds for them to score the first goal, 58 seconds on a power play to tie the game.  This will blow your mind,  just 138 second later, Jeff blew a slap shot from the blue line past the goalie after 2 of his potential shot blockers got out of the way.  What does 138 have in relation to 57 and 58 you may ask?  Well check this out, 58 +57 is equal to 138 + 23.  Isn't that amazing?  I

Tony tries to talk his way out of jail

guess not, but Jeff's slap shot was clocked at 138 MPH or something close to that.  Wait, there's more.  That lead lasted only 151 seconds when the Rangers scored with 4:01 left in period one.  If you are smoking weed and trying to make sense of this, 151 may look like 115.  (57+58).  Back to the exciting game that was tied 2-2 going into the 2nd period.  A Wags player was called for holding, but his identity is protected by a score keeper with bad penmanship.  It could be number 14, 17 or 19, but that doesn't matter because Tony "The Tiger" Letto set up Jay for a short handed goal with 5:37 left in the period.  That goal sent the Rangers into a free fall, because Tony scored less than a minute later when Kevin "Smooth as" Glass set him up.  A 4-2 lead looked nice, until the Rangers pumped 3 quick goals in and took a 5-4 lead with 1:25 left in period 2.  While the Rangers were celebrating their 3 goal burst, Phil "Man Oh" Manno took a pass from Jay and scored just 13 seconds later at 1:12.  We now had a 5-5 tie going into the third period.  Jeff had his legs taken out by Adrew. Meyers, so Speed Racer made a mental note of number 35.  Half way through the third period, Ryan "Bara" Kuta broke the tie with a goal that was set up by Gary "The Inhibitor.  Ten seconds later, Monet Mike Lopatka set up Kevin "Smooth as" Glass for a goal that gave Wags a 7-5 lead with 8:09 left to play. That goal turned out to be the game winner when #88 Koziol scored a minute and a half later.  Number 35 was trying to avoid shifts when Jeff was on the ice but when he got caught out there with Jeff, he was looking over his shoulder.  Pat "St. Patrick" Cleary  gave him a rough ride into the corner.  Meyers came up swinging and swearing, so he got double minor while Pat was sent for only two minutes.  Meyers' big brother thought about helping out his little brother until Jeff asked him

if he wanted to dance.  He looked Jeff over and replied, "I just want to play hockey."  Jeff gave him a hug and laughed.  He looked up to the stands and said, "I'm being good grandpa."  The game got confusing and interesting in the final 2 minutes when the Rangers pulled their goalie and the referees couldn't decide how many players should be on the ice.  They finally had a 6 on 5 advantage, but good defense by Uncle Dan, Gary and Jeff. and Tony preserved the thrilling 7-6 win.  Ten players picked up points with a very balanced attack.
The final score was Wags 7, Rangers 6.
Ed "The Wall" Waghorn made 17 saves
The Ranger Goalie made 34 Saves
