Lopatka Family Feud!

January 14, 2016. Untouchables Vs. Wags
Two of the younger Wags players decided to start their own team.  This is not the first time that Ed Waghorne had to deal with defections, but this is the first time he lost family guys.  Speed Racer Jeff and Monet Mike are nephews of Uncle Dan Lopatka who wasted no time showing the youngsters that the "old" guys can still play.  Dan the Man Lopatka took a pass from Killer Kyle Sandowski and fired a top shelf goal to beat novice goalie Bill "The Piercer" Barron before the game was 2 minutes old.  Two minutes later, Dan set up Kevin "Smooth as"

Family Feud ended all smiles.

Glass to give Wags a 2-0 lead.  Half way through the first period, Tom "Z-Man" Zagorski teamed up with  Chris "Rooster" Roos to make it 3-0 .  Jeff "Speed Racer" Lopatka  stopped the bleeding and made it 3-1 with a nice wraparound goal.  Killer Kyle made it 5-1 with 2 goals in 56 seconds.  TZ, Roadrunner and Dan "Lotto Man" Fugazzotto picked up assists.  The Untouchables took over the 2nd period and got back in the game scoring 3 of the 4 goals.  Jeff "Speed Racer" scored 2 to pick up his Hat Trick.  Killer was credited with the only Wags goal in the period, but he said it was scored by Rooster Roos.  The 3rd period started with the Wags up 6-4 and it stayed that way until Wags started a 3 goal scoring streak when Jay "Roadrunner" Demaria scored with 7:18 left to play. The Glass man picked up the assist thanks to poor penmanship by the Official Scorer who wrote a 14 that could have been a 19 for the assist.  We didn't have a 14 on the score sheet, so nice pass Kevin.  Forty seconds latter, Roadrunner set up a goal for TZ.  Ninety seconds later, TZ and Lotto Man Dan  set up Rooster Roos for a goal to put wags up 9-4 and put the game away with 5:12 left to play.  The Untouchables answered with 2 late goals to make the final score 9-6.
Ed "The Wall" Waghorne made 21 saves and William "The Piercer" Barron made 32 saves. 

We had a record crowd for the 9:30 game.  We had several

Duffers, Grandpas, Dad's, Wives and Girlfriends stay up late for this entertaining game.  They got off of the couch and missed the end of the Blackhawk game.

Kevin gives the finger to Killer.

We had a record crowd to see the Family Feud.

The game ended with lots of beers and laughs.
Last Year the Duffers went to Detroit and skated in the Joe Louis Arena. Monet Mike designed this logo for our tee shirts, We are returning to skate in the Joe next month, so Mike came up with another beauty! We will watch the Redwings play the Bruins and USA U-17 play Russia.
