No Place for Stick Throwing!

Romeoville, IL April 28, 2017  Attendance: 21
I have played almost 2000 Duffer games in the last 46 years and I have only seen one guy throw a stick at a skater to stop a break away.  He was asked to leave 30 years ago.  I have seen 4 sticks thrown in the last month and that has to stop, that could lead to a serious injury.  I suggest that any future stick throwers be asked to leave the game. Throwing sticks is not the Duffer Way.  We had enough guys show up to have a 5 on 5 game and we had a thrilling game. Beak shocked everybody when he stretched his undersized White jersey over his massive shoulder pads. Beak put on

Grandpa Ken and Great Grandpa Beak teamed up for a goal.

the white jersey so that he could play on his son Ken's team. (Ken can't play on the red team because his son Jeff has his Red Jersey.) The Reds got off to a fast start with goals by T&A and Steve the Hammer. The Whites finally got on the board when Greg Z scored.  Greg the Guest scored a little later to tie the game at 2 apiece. Matt the L'll Hammer set his Dad up again as he was speeding around and passing to old guys like a good Duffer SOD. Matt had 3 assists.  Commander Ken stayed hot after his hat trick last game and scored to tie the game. Beak was rewarded for wearing white by having his son Ken set up a goal with a pass from the blue line. Beak fired a shot off of the right post just as The Anvil was sliding over to close the 4 hole.  The puck caromed off of the post and into the net to give the Whites a 4-3 lead, but that lead didn't last too long because Anthony The Bookie scored to tie the game.  Anthony was wearing Beak's Red #99 jersey.  We had a mystery Duffer score a goal for the White team to give them a 5-4 lead, but Rob Z who just recovered from an unassisted crash that was worthy of the "Klinger Krash Award", had a gift handed him a few minutes later when Barron made a great save on a hard shot that fluttered into the air and landed right in front of Rob on the

door step of an open net. Rob tapped it in to tie the game at 5-5.  That led us to an exciting finish for Crash Nance who had a frustrating night. He had several crashes and his son Dylan set him up for 2 break away attempts that Bear foiled. He squandered several other set ups by shooting high or wide. It took Jack Kroll to stop the misery.  Jack fired a beautiful pass to Terry who roofed it into the top shelf for the game winning goal.
Final Score: Whites 6, Reds 5.

*If you were the Mystery goal scorer, speak up otherwise we had a 5-5 tie.

The Bear and his Cub.

Grandpa Ken set up his Dad's goal.

The Bear's Cub was hoping to get in the game, but we had enough.

Mike and Jeff's team won the State Championship. Jeff scored the first 3 goals to lead them to a 7-3 win.

Mike's wife Trina, kids Lennie and Carmela, sister Amanda were all there cheering him on.

My granddaughter Michelle is their biggest fan.

Dan and Tom led their team to a Championship 7-7 tie.
