Duffers Hit a New Low!

Romeoville, IL March 24, 2017  Attendance: 13
We had a Klinger get well card for all of the Duffers to sign last Friday but only 6 dues paying Duffers showed up. (We did have 2 goalies) Fortunately we had 5 guests, 2 SODs and a DOD show up to give us almost enough to have 2 full lines in a 4 on 4 game. I'm getting too old for 4 on 4 games.  I'm going to take a week or two off. That will get me to the April 21 off game. One of the SODs was 9 year old Chris Williams who scored a goal on his Dad Barron.  He became the 2nd 9 year old SOD to score a goal.  My son Dan scored glove side high

Eddie had fun.

on Stump when he was 10.  We had a poor turnout on Mothers Day in 1980 so he got to play. A few years later, Frank's 9 year old grandson broke Tweedy's record. So Chris now shares the youngest Duffer to score record with him.  I sent out a PDF copy of the card in case you want to print it, sigh it  and send it to Bill. Even better, come  to lunch on Wednesday and you can sign the one that we will present to him at lunch. Bill came home last Friday and he is planning to join us at the Kilt on Wednesday at 1:00

We had a slow moving 4 on 4 game that started with Duffer SOD Dylan scoring an accidental goal that was meant to be a pass to an old guy. That pass went past the Anvil and settled in the corner of the net.  T&A beat Barron with a coast to coast rush to tie the game at one each.  Bill BTW and Anthony "Bookie" Antonini added goals in the second period to give the Whites a 3-1 lead. (Terry and BTW's daughter Lillia set her Dad up) The Bear was stopping everything that came his way. He foiled Brian "Fuzzy" Stewart on 3 breakaways and he stopped several shots by his 9 year old son Christian until Chris got a clean breakaway with 10:10 left in the game. Chris made a nice move and beat his Dad in the 5 hole.  With only 4 minutes left, T&A made it 3-3 with a back door beauty.  Fuzzy Brian who is not as fuzzy as he was last week*, finally beat the Bear with the game winner in the final minutes. Final score: Reds 4, Whites 3  The Anvil showed

up at the Kilt and my granddaughter Michelle was there cheering us on.
*Brian took his Harley out last week and his beard flipped up over his eyes, so he decided it was time to get out the pruning shears.

The 3 stars of the game.

(Above) 9 year old Chris Barron scored his first Duffer goal when he heat his goaltending Dad.  (Top Right) Dylan scored the first goal of the night when he accidentally put one past the Anvil. (Right) T&A scored 2 goals to give Eddie and the Reds a thrilling win.

Beak's granddaughter, Michelle, was in the stands cheering us on.

Our waitress Anna is about to get her accounting degree.

Brian "Fuzzy" Stewart scored the game winner in the final minute.

Terry Joined us for lunch as he filled in for Klinger.

Why can't we get 2 lines? Here are 21 guys pictured below that were Duffer regulars and for one reason or another, they are no longer with us.

(Above) Scott the Bookie has been MIA for a few years, so we are going to give the bookie title to our guest Anthony Antonini who looks a lot like Kramer's bookie.

(Left) Brian Kraft sent this picture of him and his Dad Wally Kraft.

Here is the puck that my son Dan scored his first Duffer on Mother's Day 1981 when he was almost 11.  Chris Barron beat Dan's record and now shares it with Frank's grandson.
