Here is a link to all 40 past Duffer Road Trips. Duffer road trips

(Back Row Left to Right) Steve A, Doc, Barron, Drago, Thor, Cowboy Joe, Speed Racer Jeff, Joe Mazz 3, Beevis Tom Morgan, Ted Hack, Berserk, Beak, Buckshot Bob Morgan, Rob Brill, Greg Z, Monet Mike, The King, John Koss, Harvey, Butt Head Jim Coughenhaur.

(Front Row) Steve Wads, Mini Wheezer, T&A, Joe Ambrosia, Grandpa Ken, Tony Granato, Tommy Z, Coach Jim Hiller, Vidas Formica, Johnny B, Rob Z, Rough Rider Ryan and Klinger.

We had a great time in the Joe.  Tony played for the Reds and Redwing coach Andrew Brewer played for the Whites.  We met Tomas Holmstrom before the game and Power Play coach Jim Hiller got in the team picture.  When Tommy Z mentioned coach Reggie Dunlap from Slap Shot, Coach Hiller quickly quoted Paul Newman saying, "We're working on it."

On Saturday, we played an afternoon game then went to Ann Arbor to watch the USA U-17 team play Waterloo with Donny Granato.  Donny brought his U-18 team to the Edge in Bensenville for a game with the Steel on Saturday March 14th. He had 9 Duffers there cheering for him.

Get Well Brian!

The Czar's Mom loved the Get Well card too. She wanted to send thank cards to everyone, but Mike told her that a thank you would appear in the Duffer News.

Please pass along a sincere thank you to all of the Duffers on behalf of myself and Dylan for their generosity toward the Hornets Sled Hockey program.  Dylan was able to donate $175 due to the Duffers generosity.  The event raised over $6,000 for this team which is 100% funded by donations.

Holy Moly, We had 2 Lines

Romeoville, IL March 27th, 2015  Attendance: 20

Reds 5 and the Whites 3
Remember, every week I send out an e-mail with a list of the goals that I remember. I am amazed that I can remember anything on Saturday morning after staying out late after the game and laughing until my stomach hurts.  If you scored and you want to be immortalized in the Duffer News, there are 2 things that you can do.  All you have to do is show up at the Tilted Kilt and get your picture taken while giving me some fingers like Terry and Bill BTW did last week. (See the cartoon below) If your wife won't let you go to the kilt, and I forgot to mention you in my "Who scored" e-mail, take a minute and respond to the e-mail! Is that asking too much?  I don't come to hockey every week to hear complaints.  Here is what I remember from last Friday:

We had Fun at the Kilt

Eddie and The Reds 5: Monet Mike had 3goals and Geno and O'Connor's guest Tyler had one each.
Bill Barron and the Whites 3: Magoo scored twice and V-Man scored once.
Memorable Moments:

  • Barron had a fine game is his first game as a Duffer Goalie
  • TO's guests, Tyler and Matt, were good Duffers passing up many chances to set up the veterans.
  • Rob Z had 2 beautiful assists to set up Geno and Monet Mike.
  • T&A did a fine job protecting his kidney and Eddie. (He did not speed while playing stay at home defense)
  • When Magoo's first goal went in, we suspected that Eddie had a traffic ticket that needed to be dealt with by the Duffer lawyer, when he scored again, we were convinced that The Anvil was in need of legal help.
  • Monet Mike beat his coworker Barron on his first 3 shots.  The first one came when his grandpa Beak fired a blind* pass from the corner.  The pass missed everybody and went to Mike who fired a bad angle shot that surprised Bill "The Piercer" Barron and gave the Reds a 1-0 lead.
  • *Blind was the key to the game as visually impaired John "Magoo" Landry scored 2 goals and just missed a hat trick.
  • Our game turned out to be more much more entertaining than the Blackhawk game.

Cards can be sent to Brian Opalka at:
Marianjoy

The Anvil made a lot of saves.

It is easy to help Beak remember who scored.

Terry Had 2 and BTW had 3 last week!

These kids went to the Blackhawk game and got sedated.

Ken and Steve spent hundreds treating their kids to a Hawk Game.

These guys spent 20 bucks and had more fun.

Darin found a picture of the Kings evil twin.

We went to see the U-17 USA team play Waterloo.

Saturday night, we got comfortable and parties broke out all over the place.  Beak's granddaughter joined in the fun. A few guys went home and missed the parties, but saved a room charge.  Thor had a room all to himself and was feeling good until he got hit with the bill.

Beak apologized to Mike for picking a fight with him. Mike asked "Why me?" Beak said, "I won't hurt my hand when I hit your belly"

After his goal and assist, He needed a fight to get a Gordie Howe Hat Trick!

Mini Wheezer had his Toronto trip shirt, Ken had Arizona.

I want to get a group picture with all Road Trip Shirts

They said that they couldn't find any Strohs in Detroit.

There was another party next door in the GODs' Room.
