Welcome to

Detroit Road Trip is Sold Out

We have 3 full lines (30 skaters) and 2 goalies who will skate out if the Anvil wants to play.  I was able to add 5 more tickets to the 30 that I had for the Redwing/Flames game on Friday March 6th. If Tony and Coach Babcock decide to play with us, we may have to rotate 4 wings, so be nice and don't bitch. Say thank you and leave your Blackhawk clothes at home.  Wear your Duffer clothes and count your blessings. We have a few spectators with one more ticket for the Anvil or the Czar if he can make it.  I have a waiting list in case someone drops out. We are just waiting to find out when they can find a big enough locker room in the "Joe" for us.  We will skate at 9:00 AM or later in the afternoon on Friday March 6. Our Saturday ice time is set for 9:00 AM at McCann ice arena at Liggitt University. The Redwings will be skating at 10:30 when we get off.  The USA U-18 plays Waterloo at 7 in Ann Arbor.  That game is optional.  You can buy your ticket at the door.

I sent out a participant list with phone numbers so that you can make travel plans.  Bob Morgan has room for a rider or 2.  His Truck and Klinger's truck have room for bags.  I have 13 rooms reserved.  I'll give them the names when roommate assignments are finalized.  I will be sending an e-mail (Within a week) with what I have.

It was so cold that my heated birdbath had a hard time keeping the water temperature above 0 C,  but we had 23 squirrelly Duffers brave the cold and play to a 6-6 tie.

Five Meaningful Goals!

Tom "TO" O'Connor got the Reds off to a fast start on his first shift when he flipped a bad angle backhander that mystified the Brain.  Bill BTW answered that goal with a Canadian Vortex that beat Johnny B.  Tumblin Terry followed that up with a goal and gave the Whites a 2-1.  Geno tied the game midway through the period with an assist going to The Maestro.  The period ended in a 2-2 tie. Drago shocked everyone with a nice goal set up by Lil' Bill that gave the Whites a 3-2 lead. Then Fruitcake scored the 4th goal for the Whites when he was set up by TZ.  When the Bobka Factor was applied, that goal put 16 goals on the board. (4 squared is 16) T&A said that the Bobka Factor should be retired since Fred is now retired and resting all day. Three minutes later, T&A set up Fruitcake's son Cupcake to get the Reds back in the

game.  Late in the second period, Speed Racer Jeff slid a pass across the crease where Berserk buried a backdoor game tying goal.  The second period ended in a 4-4 tie.  Barron the Piercer gave the Whites a 5-4 lead when Rags set him up with a tap in.  "TO" tied it at 5 with a pass from Geno.  With 3 minutes left to play, TZ walked in all alone on Johnny B and blew a shot into the back of the net to give the Whites a 6-5 lead.  Beak told his grandson Jeff to get that goal back, so Jeff  cranked a slap shot that rang up the right post and came all the way out of the zone. Beak's great granddaughter, Carmela, was on the bench (Mike Lopatka's Daughter).  She had been skating in warm ups and between periods so she got bored and told her great grandpa Beak that she wanted to drop the puck, so as luck would have it, Brian froze the puck and Beak told her to go out and drop the puck for the important faceoff in the White zone. Carm made Duffer history when she became the first GGOD (Great granddaughter of a Duffer) to drop the puck or a faceoff.  Tommy Z was able to win the faceoff and clear the zone and Carm made a 'B-Line" to the safety of the bench.  Just when it looked like the Whites were going to hang on to a thrilling  6-5 win with the clock ticking off the final seconds of the contest, Monet Mike sprung his little brother Jeff  for another break away. Jeff sped into the zone and blasted another shot at right post, but this time he missed it and got all net for a thrilling goal that tied the game at 6-6!   The Reds won the meaningful contest 3-2 and the Whites won with the Bobka Factor 20-6. They say a tie is like kissing your sister.  The Reds kissed Cinderella and the Whites kissed her step sister.
