Johnny B Saves the Day!

Romeoville, IL, February 14, 2014

Attendance: 19

Valentine's Day and the Full Moon took it's toll!

After a long lay off, only a few dedicated Duffers were able to show up for a Valentine's Day game under a Full Moon.  The Anvil always has a problem dealing with the Full Moon, so he called in "sick" on game day.  That sent Beak and the Goalie Pimp scrambling for a goalie.  Tweedy was out with a snow shoveling bad back and Bill BTW said, "No thanks, once is enough!"  Rags picked up Jimmy Bones' pads and Johnny B said, "Put me in coach, I'm ready to play!"  And play he did, shaving two goals off of the high scoring Whites total of last week and picking up the 4-2 Meaningful win.  Thor had 2 again as did

Steve and Commander Ken scored for the Whites.

Rags.  "Tumblin" Terry, Stevie Wonder and Commander Ken score one goal each.  Geno scored 2 for the Reds while Magoo, Tom "TO" O'Connor and Tommy Z added solo goals.  The Brain made some great saves, to pick up the Meaningless 7-5 win.  He kicked out the left pad to save a blast from the point by Tommy Z that Beak redirected toward the four hole.
Last week guys named Tom scored 11 goals, this week, we only had 2 Tommy goals, but T&A and his son Tom had 6 assists.

Memorable Moments:

  • The Czar backed into his goalie and knocked the Brain into the net. The Reds scrambled to put the puck in there with them, but the net was too crowded.
  • Johnny B made his début in the nets.  Beak and T&A were MVPs for bringing the Birthday Beers.
Lots of Birthdays:
Back on September 20, we had Magoo, Thor and Joe Mazzarella Jr. celebrate their birthdays.  I started searching the Duffer Data base and found 2 sets of Duffer twins.  The Czar's Brother in Law, Mark Fetting was born on Beak's 20th

birthday on February 26, 1960.  John "Kone " Koss was born on Digital Dan Mazanec' 20th birthday on March 2, 1959.  T&A (1/26/58) and the Anvil (1/25/55) just missed sharing a birthday by one day.  The Czar (2/19/68) and his dad Frank, (2/21/38) have birthdays just 2 days apart.  Papa Joe, (2/8/30) and Bob "Dill" Deau 2/9/43 are only a day apart.  Brian Kraft (1/29/69) was born just 5 days

  before his Dad's 23rd birthday.

What did you do on your Duffer  Vacation?

Three Toms had a goal and 6 assists.

Tommy Z looks like he needs a nap.

A goal each for the rookies, Steve and Ken.

No goals for these guys, just smiles.

So you want to be a goalie.  Red Wings' Goalie Terry Sawchuk
