Buckeyes Upset Irish!

Romeoville, IL

Attendance: 24

Highlights of the 10/14/11 Duffer Game!
None reported at press time.
(See Fred's Game report at the bottom of page 3)
No one sent me a report on Friday's Duffer game, so I have the think that no one had a memorable moment that they wanted preserved in the Duffer History page.  I'm wondering, like many philosophers, if a tree falls in the forest and nobody is there to hear it, does it still make a sound?  Using Duffer Logic, I wonder, if I'm not at the game to record the goals does anyone score?  I missed my first game in 2 and a half years for a good cause. My son, grandson and I saw a son of a Duffer play 2 great games for Ohio State in South Bend.  They almost swept the #2 ranked Irish, but were foiled by a bad call on Friday night. Ryan Dzingel scored a break away goal with a defender on his back.  He was pulled down and sent sliding into the goalie.  The referee washed out the goal and put Ryan in the Sin Bin for goalie interference.  That goal would have put them up 3-1, but the Irish tied it on a 5 on 3 power play, then went on to win it on another power play goal an empty netter.

Ryan Dzingel had the game winner vs. the Irish.

The Buckeyes had better luck on Saturday night when Ryan had an assist on the second goal and scored an unassisted game winner on a break away.  Those kids are so fast and disciplined.  It was a pleasure watching a game that had clean checking and no retaliation.  When a kid got nailed, he just skated away and got him next time if he had a chance.  It was sort of like Duffer Hockey speeded up 4 or 5 times with checking.

Perfect Attendance Drops to 7

The Anvil, Fruit Cake, Geno, Klinger, Magoo,  Porta John, and V-Man are perfect. (Thanks to Fruit Cake for this update)

Luke went for a morning swim on Saturday after breakfast.

He had these words of Wisdom. "Pringles are better than bananas"

The only time he took a break was when Andy Griffin came on. He jumped in bed and said, "I'll take an emergency break." He saw Barney give Aunt Bea a hard time for jaywalking.  After the game, he saw a security guard crossing the street and said, "Hey, why is that guy jaywalking?"

When he got angry at his video game and threw something, I asked him why he was mad. He said, "I'm not angry, I'm frustrated!"

Fred's Duffer report sent at 4:22 on 10/17/2011. Sent in after the Duffer News was posted.
Goalies - Anvil vs. The Brain. Formica came in from Seattle to join us.
Period 1. Whites - Alien, Little Ambrosia, Little Nick (2)
Reds - Porta John
Period 2. Whites - Nick Hawrysio (2)
Reds 0
period 3. Whites - Art (2), Alien
Reds - Porta John, TA
Final - Whites 9, Reds 3

Game over before it even started as Whites had Art, Nick Hawrysio, Little Ambrosia and Little Nick.  Reds had Geno, V-Man and TA but Geno jammed his left wrist late in the first period and did not play again.  Whites were in the Red zone for at least 2/3 of the game.

Thanks to The Anvil for adding some much needed humor to Fred's report:

It was good for Formica to see me, coming all the way from Seattle. And he hasn't missed a lick on defense. He also had the classic line of the night when he told lil T&A if he skates around him again he will remove his braces. The kid laughed and I said he will he's a dentist. Lil T&A passed the rest of the night.

Thanks to Darren from Canada for thinking of us when he read the following:

At a wedding reception the during the best man's speech,
he asked the audience...

"Would all the married men, please stand next to the person
who has made their life worth living."

The bartender was almost crushed to death.

Thanks to Formica for his report:

Fred said, "I don't like this type of hockey"  "I feel like going home".  We didn't have a key to the locker rooms.  Luckily one of the doors was open.  Fred wouldn't give his car keys for the locker room keys.  Since we couldn't lock our rooms, Fred took his wallet to the bench and held it in his hands when he wasn't skating.  See you soon Beak!
