Welcome to

Do you know any Duffers who want to play hockey on Friday nights?  We reached a new low in attendance.  We had only 2 guys on each bench! We need 2 lines to have a good game and 3 lines is even better.  That way you can skate hard for 90 seconds then get off and catch your breath for a few minutes.  We will be playing 3 on 3 games soon if we can't find some guys that want to play.

There is no ice on November 2nd

Poor Attendance Hits a New Low!

Romeoville, IL
October 12, 2012

Attendance: 16

A 4 on 4 Game Would Have Been Nice!
Only 15 Duffer skaters showed up.  Bill BTW brought out a guest (Jim Smar {Just a T short of being Smart} was almost too good to be a Duffer, but he understood the "Duffer Way") that got us up to 7 skaters on a team.  The White team asked to skate 4 at a time, Beak agreed because a 4 on 4 game would have given us 2 forward lines with 3 defensemen.  They were overruled by the Czar who must like skating with tired slow moving players.  The Whites had 14 year old Tommy A. who never came off and seldom slowed down. He played  every minute of each period and was dehydrated and exhausted after the game.

The Anvil returned from his trip to Mayberry.

A Gatorade after the game and 3 bottles of water at Wild Wings was not enough to keep him from having stomach cramps all night. At least he didn't throw up in the garbage can on the bench like his father has in the past.  The Red's answered Tommy's act with 75 year old Harvey who only sat down twice during the 90 minute game.  The Whites downed the Reds with 2 goals from the miniature dehydrated Ambrosia. Tommy scored the first goal on a pass from Brinks. His 2nd goal was from Tweedy who sent a laser pass from his net to the far blue line to spring t&a* on a breakaway. Terry scored the 2nd goal with an assist from t&a.  The 4th goal was scored by T&A** who was assisted by Fred, "Fruit Cake" Bobka. The Reds got their first goal when Tweedy snagged a shot from the Czar, but when he lifted his arm to find it, it dropped in the crease for an easy tap in for Bill BTW.  Their second goal was scored by the Czar after Kevin "Monkey  Rench" made a high energy rush that made Tweedy move over to cover the right side of the net.  Kevin slid a pass over to the Czar who buried it with a roof shot. This game was a sorry excuse for a hockey game. You need at least 2 lines to play hockey.  Lets find some Duffers who want to play hockey on Friday nights!
* t&a = Teenager Tomas Ambrosia
** T&A = Tom Ambrosia Senior

Memorable Moments:  Crash Nance reported: "Harvey took me out with vicious cross check in the second period."
Editor's Note: 75 year olds who skate for 85 minutes sometimes use a cross check  to help them stop.  Years ago, The Czar was known as "Cross Check Mike" when he was learning how to stop.  (See the Nickname Page)

The Romeoville Bugle wants to do a story on Papa Joe's retirement.  We are looking for a date and suggestions.

The perfect attendance count dropped from 7 down to 3. The following Duffers have perfect attendance:  Beak, Brinks and Tumblin Terry Nance.

We were talking about Uncle Bob.

Tommy Z and I were talking and laughing about Uncle Bob.  I decided to do a tribute to Him.
