Hats Off to Brinks and Tweedy!

Romeoville, IL
July 13, 2012

Attendance: 18

We had Enough Guys to Play 5 on 5!
The last time we played on Friday the 13th, Brinks scored 2 goals with a bad leg.  This time he got 3 in the first period and then coasted. Every time the Reds got down 3 goals, Tweedy or BTW would score and cut the deficit to 2 goals.  The Whites had 3 Granatos and I think we talked about composing a rule against that.  We let it slide since 2 of the Granatos totaled almost 500 pounds!

Art showed up and kept The Anvil hopping with his hustle and shots.

The reds got their 6 goals from Tweedy (3), Bill BTW (2) and the Czar had a great redirect on a pass that Tweedy thought was going to be way too far ahead of the speeding Czar, but Mike extended his 12 foot reach to 14 and beat the surprised Danny Smith. I couldn't remember all 10 White goals on Saturday morning so I sent out a plea to all duffers for some help.  I only got one reply and that was from Lee Ann of the Rampage, but she couldn't help me since she was not there. I miss T&A, because he always fills in the blanks for me. Here is what I remember: Brinks (3), Tommy Z (2) Rembrandt and Terry had one each.  Final score: Whites 10, Reds 6, but since I can only remember 7 goals and nobody claimed the other 3.  We will make it a 7-6 squeeker.

Memorable Moments

  • Hacksaw got 12 great passes from TZ, but did not convert any of them. That was the only good luck the Reds had.
  • Beak had to draft our Pittsburgh goalie Danny Smith.  Dan will be starting his sophomore year as the Bradley University goalie.  His biggest save came when he made a blocker save on his brother Chris. His little Brother Matt was on his team pestering the Reds while skating as hard as Art.
  • Friday the 13th was bad luck for Geno.  He showed up with only one shin guard.
A Picnic Committee meeting date is being selected as you read.  We need Tommy Z to return the Klinger Krash award so that we can present it to the next "lucky" Winner.

See Page 2 for our Friday the 13th history.

Bill BTW tried to get a win for Eddie, but he needed 6 goals and he only had 2.

Friday the 13th Duffer History

Brian is 6-3 and 1, Eddie is 2-8 and Tweedy is 3-1 on Friday the 13th games.

3/13/09 Brian had bad luck 15 times.
2/13/09 Eddie wins 8-3 with a 1-1 Meaningful tie.
6/13/08 Eddie and Brian go Fishing. We have 4 goalies and 5 sets of goalie pads. Whites beat Jason 7-6.
(Father Bill Murray, was a little nervous when he was given Conti's #13 sweater to wear)
7/13/07 Tweedy tops the Anvil, 9-4.
4/13/07 No Ice
10/13/06 Eddie stops a ton of Granato shots, but falls to the Brain. Hat Trick for Brinks
1/13/06 The Anvil had another great game, only to lose when his son banks one in off of his back.
5/13/05 Geno scores with 7 seconds left in the game to give the Kid from Peoria a tie against Brian.
8/13/04 Anvil loses a shut out late, then loses the game to Brian as Beak got the game winner.
2/13/04 Three Oskroba goals (2 by Uncle Bob) give Tweedy a win over Brian.  BBTW becomes BBB for a while. (Blue Balls)
12/13/02 Beak scored an incest goal on his son Tweedy that was assisted by Klinger. Brian Wins. Stump Scores. Tech Buzz is on Vacation. (I'm glad we don't have that any more)
9/13/02 Cammi sets up her Dad and Beak, then scores another to give Brian a 6-2 win.

Bad Luck

Good Luck

Nick (Center) couldn't stop talking about his goal. Nick gave up his referee duties to help boost the numbers on Friday the 13th.

Klinger had good luck by not having a Klinger Krash!  He felt really old as he listened to Tommy Z and Art talk about pensions.

Boris said, "I didn't score, but I didn't get my lip cut open like I did in 2009."

Bill had a pair, but he needed 4 more. (Goals that is)

Saturday Morning, Klinger and I went to watch 3 Softball games. It was sunny and hot. It was 98, but it was a wet heat.

We had a couple of beers after the 9:40 game, then we returned to have a few more after the one O'clock game.  It was hot out there.

Luke put on his Dad's Ernie Banks shirt and was ready to play. When he swung and missed he said, "Dad, that was a bad pitch."

After he hit 4 in a row, he told his aunt Kathie, "I don't need a catcher!"

I was watching a softball game, so I was a late getting to the concert.  (6:00 for the 8:00 concert) They made me park way in the back where the bushes got watered by the beer drinkers. Frank , Mike and T&A are pictured above.  Where's Waldo?
