Mr. Clean wins it for the Whites!

Romeoville, IL 04/18/2008
Attendance 30

3 full lines usually produces a much faster contest than usual, but when Kevin the Cheese head shows up and he gets Art and Brinks Jr. to team up with, the game quickly escalates to men's league speed.  The Reds had Tweedy, Johnny and Tommy Z to keep them in the game.  There were a lot of goals, so I lost track and quickly forgot the score.  I sent out an e-mail plea on Saturday, but my usual reporters did not reply, so the following is a semi true story.*  (Turn up your sound to hear Jimmy Buffett sing that song)  Kevin gave the Whites an early lead, then Art made it 2-0 with a "Cherry Picking Goal".  Tommy Z scored to make it close, but Mr. Clean fired a shot that was headed for the net, but Art smacked it out of the air and into the net, The Anvil never had a chance.

Antibeernuts?

Kevin scored again, then Art added to the lead with another "Cherry Picking Goal" Tweedy scored for the Reds to make it 5-2.  Mr. Clean took a pass from Brinks Jr. and fired it past the Anvil for the Meaningful game winner.  Mini Wheezer scored in the third to make it 6-3 and it looked like the Reds were on their way to another third period rally, but Kevin-dashed their hopes with another "way to fast for Duffer defensemen goal".  Terry Made a bid for the  Klinger Krash Award when he hit the boards head first.

*Just when I finished my semi true story, my most reliable reporter sent this report at 9:09 PM.  "Better late than never."

Good Monday evening Beak,
I believe the score was 8 to 3 or 4 for the whites.  Kevin scored at least 2, possibly 3.  I had one, compliments on BTW Bill (my compadre).  The GPS Boys Tom-Tom had one, Art had at least 2, maybe 3.  I think Donny Jr.  had one.
As for the Reds.  Tommy had one, Tweedy two maybe three (I think), Mini Wheeze had 1.  Have a great week.
 Best regards,
Perry

Cub Sox Outing is Cancelled!
Klinger was the only one willing to cough up $45 to see the Sox play the Cubs on June 29th at a TBD time.  ESPN will probably make them play a night game.  I guess no one wants to be on the South Side at Midnight on a Sunday night.  Before the Sox won the Series, we used to get 15-20 Duffers every year for a day game.  After the World Series win, the Sox quit offering the group tickets, but after losing 90 games last year, they offered the tickets again, with another increase.  In 2003 we paid $25.00, it went to $28.00 in 2004 and $35.00 in 2005.

Texas Hold em?!

Our Home Rink, The International Ice Centre, is hosting a Texas Hold Em' tournament beginning the weekend of June 7th, with the

winner getting a seat at the World Series of Poker 2009 plus $2,000 in travel expenses.  Click here for the registration form.  It's a nice format with a reasonable chance to win and the entry fee is a donation to the Huskies.  If you know anyone who would be interested, please forward the registration form.  Any questions can be directed to Jimmy Andersson (815) 886-4423

Bowling anyone?

My Granddaughter's Softball team is having a Bowling party on May 10.  $25.00 per person.  There are many prizes, including tickets to Cub games and Sox games.
Picnic?

Mr. Clean takes no chances.

Stump's Old Time Duffer DVD

Stump put together a great highlight video with clips from the 1983 Men's league, when Teen aged Ken Lopatka, Donny and Tony Granato helped us "Old 40 somethings" win the Downers Grove Summer league. (Boris had a Hat Trick in the Play offs) There is a brawl where Klinger becomes the 4th man in.  See Duffer Headlines from the Downers Grove Reporter The DVD also has clips from 1980s picnics when Klinger snatched a 16 inch softball in center field with one hand, while saving his beer form spilling.  There is also a clip of goalies colliding and a throw hitting Brinks in the head.  Stump also has video of the infamous Wisconsin Canoe trip and the 2nd Bimini trip. Let me know if you want one of these.

The Duffer Fast Pitch Softball Season has Started

Last month, I sent out a request for help.  My granddaughter's Softball Team needed sponsors for her Romeoville Revolution Under 14 Fast Pitch Softball Team.  We ended up with enough money for two $250.00 sponsorships.  Tom and Bob Morgan will have Delano Conveyors on the Sponsors Sign, and several Duffers contributed enough to have the Duffer Hockey logo on the Sign.  Thanks to everyone for your help.  Click here for more pictures.  If you still want to help, they have a bowling Party in Bolingbrook on March 10, one day after our last game. $25.00
