Reds Edge the Whites!

Romeoville, IL 3/4/2011
Attendance 20
New Moon Works for the Reds!

We finally had our regular goalies back and that combination produced a nail biter that went down to the final buzzer.  The Brain showed no rust as he stacked the pads several times and robbed the Reds of several goals.  One of his best came when Tweedy fired an ice hugging pass from the point that his Dad redirected on net, just as the Brain was sliding across and stacking the pads.  The rebound went right on Beaks tape so he lifted it over Brian's pads,

The Last to leave the locker room

but the Brain's lightning fast glove snatched it out of the air for 2 quick saves.  Tommy Z started the scoring when he broke in alone on The Anvil and tucked the puck in behind him.  Geno, our one eyed Canuck, took a pass from an opponent, who will remain nameless, (because I can't remember who it was) and fired the puck past the Brain to tie the score at one each.  Geno then set up the lead goal with a perfect pass that Beak one timed from the back door, but the Brain slid over and foiled Beak again when he stacked the pads and blocked the shot, but the rebound went right to Beaks tape again, so this time he roofed the shot and put it into the top twine.  GI Joe set up his little brother with a pass into the slot that Steve fired past Eddie to tie the score.  Tweedy got a break away and TZ was right on his tail from the center line in, but he could not gain a step as both players were skating like they do on Thursday nights in the Midnight Beer League.  Tweedy tucked the puck past the Brain to give the Reds the lead.  Tweedy added another to give the Reds the dreaded 2 goal lead.  Terry scored on a screen shot from the point to make it Reds 4, Whites 3 after 2 periods.  John "Magoo" Landry scored what turned out to be the winner, when the tossed a bad angle back hander that somehow squeaked through the Brain's pads.  Joe "Face Plant" Evans made it 5-4 when he one timed a beautiful pass from TZ past the Anvil.  Reds won 5-4 and 3-1 Meaningful.  The Reds were losing the Wild Wing contest by 1 until The Anvil came in and bought Beak a Birthday Crown Royal (Beak is really milking that Birthday).  Mini Wheezer and John came in to break the tie and give the Reds a triple win!  The biggest laugh of the night came between periods when Tommy Z leaned against a door that was not there and tumbled backwards out of the rink.  We laughed until the puck was dropped.  Terry had funny face plant when he tried to back up while looking down at a puck that was in his skates.

Duffers will have ice on March 18 at Romeoville, Bring a guest.

Many Duffers will be in Pittsburgh that night, so that would be a good game to bring a friend.

Rampage wants the Names of players for the April 2nd game.  Let me know if you want to play.  $30 donation, see e-mail from Lee Ann below:

Rags returned in a teaching position.

Well good evening Greg,

As I mentioned early here is my email regarding the MLF night.  The ladies are ready to go from 'Green' (Monica, Michelle, Emily H., Emily L.), plus the others are also ready to rock & roll :)
The Rampage is going to have a bench of 15 players at $30. per player.  Just about all our ladies are signed and have paid for the game.

With that said, I do have a few questions for you;
1) how many guys will you be having on the bench

2) will they be paying individually or will the Duffers just pay by 1 check (# of players x $30.)

3) if the guys are paying individually before the game, I'll get you info for check-in before the game (just let me know)

4) we have several items that the Rampage women are donating and wondering if the Duffers would like to assist in this area.  If so let me know and I can forward you our list of what's still needed.

Well I think that's it for now but I'm sure I'll have more later this week.
By the way, Robin (her husband is Tom T&A on your team) is bringing 10-12 kids from St. Mary's confirmation class to assist with the volunteer needs.  How cool is that :)

I'm getting excited for the event and some raffle items are starting to roll in.

Chat soon,
Lee Ann
