The White Were Loaded!

With "Dimples" and "Tweedy" playing in an outdoor tournament, the Reds were not playing with a full deck.  The Whites had skill, speed and youth while the Reds had experience and mass.  The Reds had to move Bill "The Maestro" Conti, their best defenseman, up to play center to get some scoring punch.  That move produced only one goal, half way through the game.  The Whites were peppering the

The Bookie and Bill were all smiles.

Anvil with shot after shot.  Brinks had 2 goals again for the third straight week.  Both of his goals were set up by his cousin Steve "Rembrandt" GranatoStump made his comeback with a great pass from the point that Tom "T&A" Ambrosia redirected past Eddie.  Kevin "Monkey" Rench set up T&A for another one, then scored one of his own on a break away.  Porta Johnny bought some new skates that had him flying all over the place.  He had an ESPN highlight goal that came from Kevin at the point to Steve in the slot and over to John for the tap in.  Terry had an excuse me goal that he fouled off, but it found its' way into the net some how.  Thor kept his scoring streak alive to give the Whites a 3-0 meaningful win.  The average age of each team was almost the same, but The Reds just could not dent the Brain after the Maestro banged in a pass from Tom "TO" O'Connor.  Tempers were a little short on Friday for some reason.  We can't blame the Moon, since the full Moon was long gone and was waning into a crescent.  Thor and Mini Wheezer had a spat that reminded us of an old roller derby shoving match.  They eventually made up using the Obama formula. (They shared a beer in the locker room)  It is Great to have Stump back!  The Whites did show good sportsmanship and slowed down after Rembrandt gave them a 7 goal lead with 30 seconds left in the game.

Final Score was Whites 8-Reds 1

The Rampage MLF Game had to be moved up to April 2, 2011!

The Rink has the Bauer invitational tournament that week end of April 15th, so they had to bump us up.

The Pittsburgh trip is shaping up nicely, we have more than half of our $1500.00 budget.  Many guys are paid in full and everybody else everybody else has contributed something, except one guy.  He doesn't want to

lose the interest.  See tentative itinerary on page 2.

Thor and Mini Wheezer make up with a Strohs after the game.

Blizzards that I Remember Well

In 1979  I shoveled the snow off of my garage and we had a hill that reached up to the gutters, so we had a snow hill that gave us a lot of fun.  That is my 12 year old daughter, Debbie, cheering on her brother Dan.

In 1999, before I had a snow blower, Ken brought his family over to help me clear my driveway.

image008.jpg (35616 bytes)

We didn't get Debbie's Camaro out until the spring.  Ken brought Mike, Amanda and Jeff to help me dig out.

image010.jpg (54894 bytes)

Jeff wasn't much help, but he had fun.

image011.jpg (34799 bytes)

Our former Duffer Referee, Agi even pitched in.

I remember the Blizzard of 1967 well, It was Records Day in the Chicago Schools, so the kids had the day off, but teachers were working on their semester end records.  We were going to lunch (A rare treat for teachers) and our principal told us to go straight home because we were going to get a lot of snow.  We were lucky that he did that, because I barely made it home that day and my car stayed where I parked it for days.  I went from 47th street on the Dan Ryan Expressway to the Eisenhower, but that ramp was clogged with cars, so i continued on to the Augusta Boulevard ramp and headed west to Parkside Ave. where I lived at that time.

Blizzard of 2011

We got several inches of snow over night.  I cleared it off of the driveway by 9:00 AM.  It was still clear at 3:00 PM but it has several inches by 4:30 PM.

I could hardly see Dzingel's house by 4:30

Once I had a path to my car cleared, I went for a spin.

I went to Nicks to see my retired hockey friends.

I was the only one to show up so Karen rolled out the red carpet.
