Frank Returns and Wins!

Romeoville, IL 10/08/2010
Attendance 18
We had just enough for a ball game!

16 skaters and 2 goalies got off of the couch and gave up watching playoff baseball.  That gave us enough to fill every position on a baseball field.  Frank was happy that he was able to get his swollen foot into his skate.  His doctor felt skating would help heal his blood clot.  Frank was hoping for 4 or 5 defensemen for his season début, but he was forced to rotate 3 with Klinger and the BookieTumblin Terry Nance put an end to

Frank was happy to be back

Tweedy's scoreless streak when he one timed a perfect pass from Tom "Dimples" Zagorski and gave the Reds a 1-0 lead on the first shift.  Tweedy had a rough night, his own Dad just missed the 5 hole and rang him up for a save that he would rather not have made.  Beak motivated Tommy by telling him that Tweedy bragged to his Wags' team mates by saying he stopped Tommy on 22 breakaways.  Tommy went on to score 4 "revenge" goals.  The Whites made a game of it with goals by Hacksaw, T&A, Cross Check Mike (Who didn't cross check anyone this week, so we'll call him Rich Storm.)  Tweedy brought a friend Kevin, from a Wheaton Church league who scored 2 goals.  Kevin skated fast and hard for 60 seconds, then he got off and rested.  He would make a good match with Harvey.  He could skate 1 minute, Harvey could do his usual 5 minute shift and they would be in synch with the other wingers who usually average 3 minute shifts.  The Bookie got the game winning goal for the Reds to give them a 6-5 Meaningless win.  Hacksaw gave the Whites a 1-0 Meaningful win when he scored the only Meaningful goal.  Hacksaw accused Beak of being off side when he assisted on Dimples' first goal.  Beak was in his own zone when he chipped a pass out of the zone to send Tommy off to a breakaway goal.
Thanks to V-Man and Tom O for supplementing Beak's 8 pack, we had just enough. Fred was happy with the pop too, he almost smiled and broke his face.  We solved Hacksaw's Tennis Elbow problem. He was puzzled that his left elbow is inflamed with Tennis Elbow, when He plays right handed.  We decided that he has WO Elbow. (He works the mouse with his right hand, and his left arm is .... never mind, you had to be there.)

Best laugh came from the W.C. Fields quote. "Drunks give drinking a bad name."
Second best laugh came from our talk about Bud Lite head aches. Beak said that when he played softball for a Bud team, they thought they had concussions every morning after drinking that rice beer.

Perfect Attendance Drops to 11! (7 have Perfect Attendance at Wild Wings)

Perfect Attendance: The Anvil, Beak, The Bookie, Dimples, Fruit Cake, Klinger, Magoo, Tumblin Terry, V-Man (Tomatoseed), Rich Storm and T&A.

Tumblin Terry ended Tweedy's shut out bid on the first shift.

Road Trip to Pittsburgh

I have asked Tony G. to make us an offer that we can't refuse.

I know that a bus trip needs at least 25 people to make it financially possible.  Every empty seat costs every participant money.  If I can't get enough guys to have a game, I will open the trip to the Rampage women.  They may get VIP treatment since they raised a lot of money (With our help) for the Mario Lemieux Foundation.  I don't think that will be necessary, since we will probably have 10 Granatos sign up for this trip.

Once we decide on a date, I'll be asking for a Yes or No answer.  I have learned from past trips that maybe means no.

If we still have empty seats, I'll open the trip up to some of our many cyber fans.

Here are some possible game dates:

Saturday 3/12 Penguins vs. Canadians

Friday 3/25 Penguins vs. Devils

Saturday 4/2 Lightning
