Hat Trick for Thor!

Romeoville, IL October 19, 2007
Attendance 24

Game was Decided with 3 Seconds left to Play!

Geno got the Reds off to an early lead when he fired one past the Brain.  Thor scored a couple of Meaningful goals to give the Whites a 2-1 Meaningful lead.  Rich Storm, Bill By the Way and Conti the Maestro each scored a Meaningless goal for the Whites, while Tommy Z picked up a pair for the Reds.  Mini Wheezer tipped one past the Anvil in the second period.  It would have been a beautiful goal, except he was on The Anvil's Team.   Mini blamed that goal on Klinger who never showed up even though he told Beak he would bring beer.  Tony De Guest saved Klinger when he showed up with some beer.

MVPs Scot and Nick!

It looked like the Whites were going to walk off with an easy win, when lightning struck in the third period.  Geno fired a pass to Magoo, who one timed a shot past the Brain to tie the Meaningful score at 2 apiece.  Less than a minute later, Magoo scored again to give the Reds a 3-2 Meaningful lead.  Geno knotted the score at 6-6 on his next shift.  The score stayed that way until Thor popped one up into the air and it slowly headed toward the net.  The Anvil made a dive for the falling puck.  He hit the post, moved the net while the puck dropped over the goal line just before the buzzer sounded.  Thor's Hat Trick gave the Whites a 7-6 win!  The Reds won the Meaningful contest 4-3.  A big Thank You to MVPs, Beak, Tony, Scott Wayne and Super Dave for bring the beer while Brinks was at the Hawk game.  Super Dave had to go to 3 stores until he found some Strohs.

Cammi Granato is PC all-time leading scorer

Oct. 22, 2007

Providence, R.I. - Former Friar women's ice hockey great Cammi Granato will be one of three recipients of the NHL's 2007 Lester Patrick Award. Granato, along with Brian Leetch and Stan Fischler, will be honored at a luncheon taking place in New York City on November 7.

While at Providence, Granato was named ECAC Player of the Year three consecutive seasons and made the ECAC All-Star team in all four seasons. Granato led the Friars to two ECAC Championship titles and finished her career with an amazing 256 points, a record she holds to this day. She is also the leader for single-season points with 84 (1992-93), goals with 48 (1991-92), and assists with 43 (1992-93). She is the all-time leading goal scorer at Providence College with an impressive 139 career tallies, and ranks second all-time in assists with 117.

After her impressive career as a Friar, Granato went on to play for Team USA beginning in 1990. She played at the World Championships in 1990, 1992, 1994, 1997, 1999 and 2000, as well as for the US Olympic teams in 1998 and 2002 where she was the team's captain both years. At the 1998 Olympics, she led Team USA to the gold medal and earned the honor of carrying the U.S. flag at the Games' Closing Ceremonies. In both 1992 and 1997, Granato made the World Championship All-Tournament Team and in 1996 she was named USA Hockey Player of the Year.

Granato also worked as a commentator for Los Angeles Kings radio broadcasts in 1998-99, becoming the second female broadcaster in NHL history, and for NBC in its coverage of the NHL and 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, Italy.

The Lester Patrick Award is considered to be one of the most prestigious in hockey. It honors the memory of Lester Patrick, who spent 50 years in hockey as a player, coach, and general manager, and was a pioneer in the sport's development.
