Hat Trick For Big Buff!

Romeoville, IL 10/23/09                  One Shift Hat trick
Attendance 21

The Reds finally picked up a Meaningless win!  Beak talked to Rich Storm about acquiring Frank in a pre game trade, because Stump was the only experienced defensemen that the Reds had at game time, but then TZ and the Bookie stepped up and volunteered to play D.  That proved to be a good move, because Stump and the Bookie played a fine, "stay at home" game on D and covered for TZ whenever he saw a chance to beat the Brain.  The game was tight until the closing minutes.  Geno got the Reds on the board with a goal on his first shift.  Bill BTW centered the Whites' first line and picked up 2 first period goals, but Tommy Z matched those when he did his

best Bobby Orr imitation while protecting the AnvilBrinks fired one past the Anvil to tie the Meaningful score at one.  The Anvil was able to stifle the high scoring Thor with some great saves and taunts.  V-Man

scored for the Reds, while Rich Storm and T&A answered for the Whites to make it 5-5.  TZ's Hat trick gave the Reds a paper thin 6-5 lead in the 3rd.  Then it happened, #33, Big Buff, turned a bouncing rolling puck into a goal.  That goofy goal gave the Reds a lift and deflated the usually confident White team for about 90 seconds.  Big Buff beat the Brain with 2 more goals to complete a one shift Hat Trick!  That gave the Reds a 9-5 Meaningless win and a 4-1 Meaningful win.  It looked like a 3 game sweep was in doubt when the table at Wild Wings filled up with 6 White team members.  Bill BTW, Hacksaw, Frank, Rich Storm, Thor and T&A were sipping beers when Beak, TZ and Big Buff arrived.  The BWW score stood at 6-3 with the Whites in front, but then the slow locker room beer drinkers started to trickle in.  The Bookie and Mini Wheezer came in to make it 6-5, then Stump and the Anvil gave the Reds an exciting 7-6 win!
Thank you. to Geno, T&A and BBTW for e-mail help

The Anvil has a look of pain when his bill for all of those shots arrived.

"Duck Soup"

I have heard "Duck Soup" several times in the last week.  I haven't heard that since my Dad used to  say that  years ago.

My Dad used to say, "that was as easy as Duck Soup" I heard T&A say Duck Soup 2 weeks ago and this week I heard Bill BTW say it, so I thought I would share a page from my Mom's Cook Book.

Czarnina (Polish Duck Soup...with some German annotations)

My sister Pat sent me this site.   http://www.soupsong.com/rczarnin.html

This is an  interesting recipe, not that I plan on making it anytime soon.  Getting the live duck would be difficult.  This is the czarnina Aunt Nelly used to make. She brought it over for Thanksgiving as a special treat.  I just never knew it was named after the czar's wife.  Also I don't remember bits of actual duck floating around in it.  I thought it just had the duck's blood in it.  Maybe we had the cheap version.

I know Eddie was ordering shots to celebrate his trifecta.  I saw Thor with a shot of something that I can't spell.
