Weather Report Scares Duffers!
Friday 12/15/00
The Ghost and Brian faced more rubber last week than a dead skunk on the freeway!    Where was Koss and the Alien when you need them?  Friday night weather reports scared 75% of the regulars away.  The Blues had 6 skaters, Beak, Fruitcake, Hitman, Beavis, Miller Ultra-Lite and Tommy Z.  The Whites had 7, Knarf, Klinger, Brinks Thor, Doc, Rich Storm and Johnny Z.
The captains agreed to skate 4 on 4 so there was plenty of room to shoot and pass.  Each Goalie made over 50 saves to make this a low scoring affair.  Knarf started the scoring when he fired a shot past Brian from the point.  Beak finally beat the Ghost with a weird goal after 7 or 8 shots.  Beavis fired a shot at Beak that he managed a back hand deflection off of his foot and then into the net to tie the game at 1.  That’s right, Beak shot himself in the foot.
Brinks got the meaningful winner when he made a nice move past Brian and tucked it in.  Klinger added a clincher in the final minute when he shot and got his own rebound, shot again and the Ghost stopped him again.  Klinger didn’t quit as he got his second rebound and scored.  Where was Koss?  That goal gave the Whites a meaningless a 5-5 tie.  Johnny Z and Doc scored for the Whites and Beavis and Tommy Z scored for the Blues.

50 Meter Space Rock is Headed our Way!
If calculations are correct, a newly-discovered near-Earth asteroid, 2000 YA, will miss earth by a half a million miles on Dec. 22nd.  The 50-meter space rock, should miss us by 8 hours say scientists, so don’t let your lady talk you into missing hockey again.  Last Week, Mrs. Brinks (Natalie) called her husband at work and said, “I hope you brought your equipment to work so you won’t have to drive home in the snow.”  Now that is a Hockey Mom-Wife!  She knows that she can’t talk her husband into missing a Hockey Day of Obligation.  (Even if the weather man says stay home)
Jeff Lopatka Grounded!
Jeff broke one of Agi’s collectables with an out of control super ball last week.  He got in trouble for following Joey Bishop’s advice in “Guide For the Married Man”.  Deny, Deny, Deny.  It didn’t work, Ken grounded him for 3 days.  Jeff turned to his dad with a tear in his eye and said, “Does this mean that I have to miss Duffer’s hockey?“

Peoria Rivermen got back on the winning trail on Wednesday night to shutout the Jackson Bandits, 2-0. Kenric Exner recorded his first shutout of the season in winning his eighth straight. His overall record improves to 11-2-1. Peoria moves up to 20-7-1, only the 2nd team in the ECHL to win 20 games. The Rivermen regain 2nd place overall in the ECHL, passing idle South Carolina.

The Worcester Ice Cats are in second place with a 17-7-2 record.  They are 6 points behind Providence and have 2 games in hand.

Beak unloads the Friday left over Strohs after he shovels the driveway with his hockey shovel.  The handle broke years ago, so the hardwood Vic has served as a great replacement. The hardest part was trying to finish 60 Strohs with only 12 drinkers.  You have a responsibility to your team.  Tell your lady that you have to help your friends when they are in need.

Beak does a little high sticking on the icicles. That shovel works great. It make you thirsty , therefore Beak had fewer Strohs to carry in.
