The Alien Finds Us!

October 19th  The Duffer move to Bolingbrook was first published in the July 1st issue of the Duffer News.  Bill "The Alien" Allen has been missing since last June.  We feared the worst, maybe some lost time from a return to his home planet, who knows?  We were happy to find out that Bill was still playing at the Bridgeview rink every Friday.  He would show up late and enter the game half way through the first period and players would shout, "go blue" if he had on White, or "go White" if he had on Blue.  He always gave them money, so they took it.  Above, you see him screwing up a game at Bridgeview, two weeks ago.  Last week he finally realized something was wrong when he was asked to leave the girls locker room. (Below) Bill finally found us, 6 weeks later at the Rocket Ice Arena in Bolingbrook.  On his first shift, late in the first period, he broke his stick when it snapped between Ken Lopatka's legs.  He quickly got the key for locker room C and found that there were no sticks there, so he went back and got the key to locker room B and found no sticks there, so he went to the parking lot and got a stick from his car. (Below) The Alien returned late in the second period with his skates roughed up by the concrete.  Stump nominated Kenny L the MVP for keeping Alien busy for half of the game.  The Game was a Meaningful blow out as Harvey, Thor and Klinger scored on Tweedy and the Blues.  The Blues only had 2 meaningful players and they were held scoreless, although Beak assisted on 3 meaningless goals and screened the goalie on two others as Rich Storm had 4, Zagnuts had 3 and Beak Jr. had 2 for a meaningless Blue win. Beavis had a pair for the Whites.  Vidas "Cermak Road"Cermarka drove in from Seattle to join in the fun.  He gave Beak some "Funny" Glasses for his retirement.  Beak put them on as they went to Tail Gaiters' and caused quite a stir.
Peoria Roadtrip  Kevin Granato is a member of the Peoria Rivermen. We now have enough players to go to Peoria on Saturday November 17. If we go on the 17th, we can see a Sunday afternoon game on the 18th. If you are not sure that you want to go to Peoria, just pop the Duffer CD II into your CD-ROM drive and watch the Peoria slide and music show, you will sign up for a trip as soon as you finish.

Hacksaw and John Gay.

Hacksaw, John Gay, Papa Joe and Knarf enjoy a beer and a 12 inch Sub before the Thursday Jimmy Buffett concert.

Knarf and Hitman get ready for the Saturday Jimmy Buffett concert.

Mr. and Mrs. Stump join in on the  stories.  Erica is so happy to be going on a school bus with a bunch of over served Duffers.  Her 6th graders are much better behaved.

The sun has been very active, giving us some great displays of the Northern Lights.

Small World story, Paul is from Bloomington and when he heard we were Hockey Players, he asked if we knew Emil Ludy.

Johnny tells Berzerk and his brother Tom what he would do if he got hit by a 95 mph pitch. The Zagorski wives try to look interested.

Jimmy Buffett sang "The City of New Orleans"  at his Saturday concert.  The Duffers taught everybody how to sing a song when you don't know the words.

A message from Jimmy Buffett as he canceled three concerts.
To all our fans I would simply say do what you can in this serious and tragic hour, from donating blood to talking to your children. Lord Buckley, the great old hip comedian, once said, “Terror is the absence of humor, and humor is the absence of terror.” Our sense of humor is one of our most precious natural resources as Americans, and  we will put this tragedy behind us and dance again. And  when we do, Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer band will be there to lead the parade. Until then, keep your fins up and
           God Bless America.
