Michael gets his first hit

Romeoville, IL 04/26/2008 Attendance 220 Michael Scores His first Run Michael put on his first uniform and even though he is a die hard Cub fan, He put on his Phillies Red uniform with pride.  It was so windy, that he wore a jacket during the whole game.  He started out in Left field in the first inning, and only had one fielding chance, when a ball went through the 3rd basemen's legs.  Michael scooped it up and threw it in.

Michael drove this pitch into right field for his first hit!

He went down swinging in his first at bat, but he pulled a shot into right field when he came to bat the second time.  He came around to score after 2 more hits.  He played the pitchers position in the second inning.  In the Third inning, he strapped on the shin guards and chest protector and caught an inning, then moved on to first base for the final inning.  As the pitcher, he scooped up a ground ball and threw it toward first.  The coaches  were happy with his play.

While catching, he got a put out, when he put the tag on a runner, just as he was about to step on home.  (See Photo)  When he was playing first, he picked up a grounder and almost beat the runner to the bag.   One little guy was asking how many points they had, I told him that you don't get points in baseball.  I told him to ask, "how many runs do we have?"  He looked confused and cold.  The wind was gusting at 35 mph, but the snacks were good!

	Michael's first at bat ended with a K.
	While Michael was on the mound, He almost got an assist.
	He is headed for third
He going for home, he is safe!
	He tried his hand behind the plate.
A ground ball to short,	The shortstop fires it home,
the throw hits in front of the plate,	Michael scoops it up as the runner approaches,
Michael lunges,	and applies the tag, He's out!

Michael consoles a team mate who just went down swinging, He told, " Don't cry, it is just a game, I struck out too."
A ground ball to first,	Michael scoots over to get the ball,
He knocks it down,	and races the batter to the bag.
Some of his team mates needed a rest during the game, but they were all energized at snack time.

He found the camera and gave me a wave.

Michael quickly mastered the Bob Uecker method of catching.  Bob said he had no problem with the knuckle ball, he just waited until it stopped rolling and then he picked it up.
