Bolingbrook, IL 9/3/04
Attendance 20

The opening game of the 34th season featured fine goal tending by the Brain and Tweedy and a power surge by Hacksaw, who was charged up by the news that he was being inducted into the Illinois Soccer Hall of Fame.  Hacksaw gave the Whites an early Meaningful lead when he teamed up with Beak and Johnny Z for a beautiful goal.  Magoo tied the score with an assist from Tommy Z a few shifts later.  The ice was in terrible condition that gave a distinct advantage to the Canadian river players like the Flea and Blue Ball Bill.  Bill used the excess water to splash his defender's face just as he fired his shot past the Brain.  He did that twice.  Perry used the poor conditions to crash into the boards, giving his best Mini Wheezer imitation.  Tommy Z also tried to imitate Mini Wheezer as he slid into the net.  Unlike Mini, he missed the Brain and came to rest in the net.  Mini Wheezer got the Whites close in the Meaningless contest when he flipped a slow moving backhander through a

Hacksaw's adrenal glands were pumping overtime before the season opener, as he just found out that he was inducted into the Illinois Soccer Hall of Fame.

crowd, past Tweedy and into the net.  Hacksaw picked up the Meaningful game winner when he converted a pass from Cup Cake Bobka to give the Whites and the Brain a 2-1 Meaningful win.  The Reds took the Meaningless contest 6-3 with 2 goals by Rich Storm and one by TZ.  Tweedy stopped his Big brother several times.
A big hats off to the following Duffers who braved Hurricane Frances to make the season opener a huge success:  The Brain, Tweedy, Rich Storm, Knarf, Klinger, Flea, BB Bill, Thor, Beak, Beak Jr., Hacksaw,

Fruitcake, Cup Cake, Papa Joe, Mini Wheezer, Detroit Phil, Stump, Magoo, Johnny and Tommy Z.

Magoo checks out his equipment, as Thor gives him a big thumbs up!

Mean Age drops to 48.85

These ages were calculated on September 4, 2004.  Any one older than 48.85 is meaningful.  The Meaningful Duffers are shown in bold type.  On slow nights, we may have to add Buckshot, Sanchez and Gilbert, since they just missed it by a year.
