Attendance 26 Report by The Beak

Thor Makes the Beer Call!

Thor and Geno were nowhere to be found at game time, speculators thought they showed up 2 weeks in a row for no games, so they gave up and stayed on the couch.  Thor did show up after the game with a lame excuse.  He said his back went out, then it went back in just in time for beer time.  He took the keys to the beer trunk from Brinks and opened up the beer stand for the quick dressers.  The game featured a rare event, where Tommy Z and Tweedy both wore Red.  The Whites were well stacked with guns of there own, (Steven G, Art, Johnny Z, Berserk, the Flea, Rich Storm and Bill BTW)  That power packed line up could only put 6 goals past the Anvil, who was hot!  He got another tattoo last week.

The Anvil got another Tattoo last week.

When he got his Duffer Tattoo in Toronto, he suffered a mini slump, so the Reds were happy to see that the "Tattoo Jinx" didn't effect the Anvil this time.  The T boys didn't have much to work with, as the Reds were stacked with role players like Beer nuts, Mini Wheezer, Beak, Harvey and Hitman for wingers.  Maybe the word roll players would better describe them, since they turn over and over.  Harvey turned over a few times, when he took an ugly spill.  When he got up, he stayed out there for quite a while, Hitman and AJ waited patiently for their chance to play, but Harvey just stayed out there trying to figure out where he was.  The Reds' right wingers changed 4 times while Harvey was out there wondering around in La La land.  Hit man did manage to score the only meaningful goal for the Reds, when Rich Storm bounced a clearing pass off of his skate past the Brain and into the net!  Brinks had 2 meaningful goals for the Whites early in the game to give them the 2-1 win.  The Reds won the Meaningless game 7-6, with 4 goals from Tweedy and Tommy, one each by Beak Junior, AJ and Hitman.  The White Meaningless goals came from Art (2), Steven G and Rich Storm.  Hacksaw certified the 7-6 score, as he put on his Blue sweater and whistled a fine game.  Hacksaw will soon announce the Duffer picnic date.

New Goalie?  A goalie prospect, who read all about us in Cyber Space, walked into the locker room last week and asked to be put on the Duffer goalie waiting list.  He gave Stump his business card that proclaimed him to be an Architect!  He is as high as Stump, but not as wide.

Picture Day comes after Mother's Day

Picture day will be on May 19th our fabulous Fotog, Donna Wisher is bringing her 2 sons and her camera.  Her youngest son will referee and Garrett will replace the Anvil in the nets.  Bring the kids. and bring a check.  (See Picture Day article below)

History repeats!
Last week, We ran the newsletter from April 30, 2004.  The Headline was

"2 for Brinks and 1 for Hitman"

The T Twins, (Tommy and Tweedy) teamed up to give the Reds a 7-6 win.

Picture Day will be on May 19, 2006

The following is a letter from Garrett's Mom:
Let me ask a favor of you...as you may remember, Garrett was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease in 2003 and was treated through St Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN and their affiliate in Peoria. In early August there is a run where runners leave Peoria on Tuesday, arrive in Memphis and RUN BACK FROM MEMPHIS beginning Wednesday at noon and arrive in Peoria Saturday at
6:00pm to kick off a telethon. This is the 25th year of that run and Garrett and I are going to do it. In order to do this though, we need to raise at least $5,000 for the hospital. The run is a sponsored event so 100% of the donations go to research and treatment of kids with cancers and other diseases. In addition, the organization is a 501C3, so the donations are deductible, if someone is interested in that.

Please make checks out to: St Jude Children's Research Hospital

Could we request a collection of some sort or something to help us with our fund raising needs? If it's too bold or too much since we're new to the group & not regulars, we understand.

If you are interested in finding out more about the hospital, the site is
www.stjude.org and the run has a site too at www.stjuderuns.org.

Looking forward to seeing you all in a few weeks.

Blessings,
Donna
I will be passing the hat, for this great cause, in the locker room before the game and again in the parking lot after you have had a few beers. You may want to increase you donation if Garrett lets you score, like that time Doc gave Tweedy some investment money then scored a Hat Trick on him.  In addition, you will be able to purchase a CD-ROM with all of the pictures taken that night for $5.00.  CD_ROMs with all of the pictures she took of us in Peoria and last May in Bolingbrook will also be available.   All proceeds will go to St Jude Children's Research Hospital fund.
