goal was another thing of beauty that was set up by Berserk and Sanchez.  Mazurk shelved an unbelievable shot to give the Whites a 7-0 win.  The Brain survived several collisions by Rich Storm and Mini-Wheezer.  The Duffers at the bar could only remember 1 other shut out.  Tweedy had a summer shut out sometime in the 90s.  A search of the Duffer Web site reveled that that  Stump had a shut out 20 years ago in a summer men's league game.  The following is a reprint from the 1983 article in the
Downers Grove Reporter:
The Duffers held on to first place by beating the Rangers 5-0. Goalie Stump Barczynski not only notched a shut out. but also picked up a rare assist when he hit Ken Lopatka with a lead pass late in the first period.  Lopatka's goal turned out to be the only goal Stump would need
John Landry made the score 2-0 when he poked in a pass from Tom Kowalkowski.
The game remained at 2-0 for most of the second period, then Jeff Ahline extended the lead to 3-0 when he was assisted by Boris Pavichevich and Frank Presecky.

The Brain rebounded from his tough loss last week with a rare Duffer Shut Out!  Brinks scored the only meaningful goal of the game on a play that started out behind the Brain's  'net with a pass by the Hansen Brother, Larry, to Beak.  Beak chipped it up to King Kong, who carried it wide as he waited for Brinks to crash the net.  His pass hit Brinks' tape right at the crease.  The Anvil never had a chance.  Miller Lite was the most valuable player for the Whites when He courageously grabbed the Alien's White jersey out of his bag.  It was courageous because That jersey carries the Alien course with it.  Don Granato Jr. once wore that jinxed jersey in a Duffer men's league game back in 1994 and he left the game early in the first period with a bloody mouth.  He put on a band aid, got rid of the Alien jersey and went on to lead us to a win with 3 assists and a goal.  The beauty of the Miller Lite move was that it forced the Alien to play on the Red team, who already had 3 or 4 of Beer Nuts' least favorable line mates.  Miller Lite went on to beat the Jinx with a Hat Trick.  His first

Kowalkowski put the game out of reach as they added third period goals to cement the 5-0 shut-out. Jim Miceli assisted on the last goal.  The Duffers are now 9-1-1 with 2 games left to play.
