screened Stump.  The Blues took the  meaningful lead when Coughenour fired a slap shot that climbed to an altitude of 3 feet, 11 inches when Tommy Z picked it out of the air and redirected it over to Beak who quickly flipped it past Stump for a  spectacular double deflection goal.
Referee Sean Morgan presented Beak with the puck, but Beak threw it back like a true Cub fan.  The celebrating Blues were quickly quieted when they just missed scoring on a 3 on 2 rush, only to have Wheezer blast one past Eddie the Anvil for a 2-2  meaningful tie.  The Meaningless contest  was also close with goals by Tommy Z (2), Uncle Bob, Joe Jr. for the Blues while  Tweedy (more than 1) Doc, Bob Morgan and Son of Frank tallied for the Whites.

All Duffers like to wake up naturally on Saturday after a Friday night game.  Saturday morning, Beak was sleeping peacefully, when a well dressed couple rang the door bell and tried to sell him a copy of    Awake.  Beak gave his best Homer Simpson pose (in his underwear), started scratching and told them politely that he needed Sleep not Awake after a night at the bar.  I'm sure that they are praying for him all week.

Frank, Beak, Wheezer and Wheezer's brother, Dave went to cheer the Rivermen on.

The Duffers have never seen a Rivermen loss except when Alien jinxed them.  Tuesday night the Rivermen once again jumped out to a 3-1 first period lead over Trenton. The Titans would manage only one goal in the game's remaining 40 minutes but the Rivermen blasted goaltender Bujar Amidovski for 4 goals enroute to a 7-2 win, taking a 2-0 lead in the best of 7 Conference Final.

A Big Thank You! Doc has been hosting Beak and his students for a lunch with scientist activity at the University of Chicago for 4 years.  Friday, April 28, 2000.  The students had a chance to talk with grad students and scientist after they toured the dinosaur lab of world famous paleontologist, Paul Sereno.  We had a beautiful day and a wonderful experience for the Randolph students.  The pictures and videos below tell the story best.

Rivermen Win
8 Straight!

   RIVERMEN BLAST TITANS, 7-2
                        Lead Series, 2-0

Frank, Beak, Wheezer and Wheezer's brother, Dave went to cheer the Rivermen on.  The Duffers have never seen a Rivermen loss except when Alien jinxed them.  Tuesday night the Rivermen once again jumped out to a 3-1 first period lead over Trenton. The Titans would manage only one goal in the game's remaining 40 minutes but the Rivermen blasted goaltender Bujar Amidovski for 4 goals enroute to a 7-2 win, taking a 2-0 lead in the best of 7 Conference Final.  Sunday, April 30, 2000     Peoria scored first on the Titans, this time it was a shorthanded goal from Jason Christie with 5:57 gone in the game. Darren Clark would make it 2-0 Peoria with a powerplay goal at the 8:53 mark, only the 2nd powerplay goal allowed by a home team by the Titans in the post season. Then, with just 5:27 left in the opening period, Peoria's Matt Golden scored for a 3-0 Rivermen lead. The Titans would refuse to quit, making it 3-1 with their first goal of the game just 1:08 later.
Peoria out shot the visiting Titans, 19-10 in the opening period enroute to the 3-1 lead. the 2nd period started out as a nightmare for the home team when Ted Whitchurch scored just 2:07 into the frame, followed by a Cail MacLean powerplay tally just 52  seconds later and the game was deadlocked, 3-3. Peoria's Jason Deleurme got his first post season goal at the 8:09 mark, his team's 2nd powerplay tally of the game. In the last 7 minutes of the 2nd period ECHL playoff scoring leader JF Boutin notched two more goals, putting Peoria back on top 6-3. However, with just 1:40 left in the middle period the Titans would score on a 5 on 3 advantage to end the 2nd trailing the Rivermen by a 6-4 count. Trenton would score two goals in the 3rd, forcing a 6-6 tie with 9:28 left,  both even strength scores. The Rivermen appeared headed to their 3rd playoff overtime bout but Jason Deleurme found the net scoring the game winner with just 2:01 left, getting the 7th goal of the game past goal tender Taras Lendzyk, who before tonight had a GAA of just 1.57. The Titans had only allowed 1 powerplay goal in 6 previous road games, but the Rivermen went 3 for 9 on the advantage. Trenton had also only allowed one 3rd period goal in their first 8 playoff games, and the Rivermen got the gamewinner  in the 3rd. Boutin added an assist for a 3-point night to pad his league point lead. The Rivermen outshot the Titans by a 39-34 margin and take a one game to none lead in this best-of-7 Northern Conference Final.
Expect both Trevor Wasyluk and goaltender Cody Rudkowsky back with the Rivermen as Worcester bowed out of the post season on Sunday night, losing at Hartford, 2-0.
